Improved Navigation Experience - User Guide

Introduction

At Hearsay, we strive to deliver the best possible experience for our users. In the process of improving and optimizing our product, we conducted extensive research and collected usability feedback from our user base. We discovered that in order to deliver a product that would satisfy the needs of our users, our information architecture and navigation needed to be redesigned from the ground up. These changes are a result of all the research we conducted and feedback we received, and we will continue to improve upon your experience going forward. What is Information Architecture?

Information architecture refers to how things are structured, organized, and named in a user interface. The information architecture of an interface affects how users search for information, navigate systems, and complete tasks.

In this release, Hearsay is focused on improving navigation and creating better names for different parts of the navigation, and how these improvements affect usability and experience.

How will this improve my experience?

In our testing, we used a measure called the success rate to determine how often users could successfully navigate to the correct place in Hearsay to achieve their most important tasks.

We studied users' success in both the new and legacy design.

By using Hearsay’s new information architecture, people found their way to important tasks at a rate 2x better than with our legacy information architecture.

The guide below will help you find what you need in Hearsay’s new information architecture. It is divided by product type based on the legacy navigation. Each page has the old navigation path and the new navigation path to cross reference where something was and where it is now, along with screenshots of the new structure. Please note, if you don’t have a product enabled, you will not see any tabs or menu items related to that product in your Hearsay Desktop environment.

These changes to the Hearsay experience will occur on May 15, 2023.

Homepage

Home Screen

Old Navigation Path: At the top of the screen, click Home.

New Navigation Path: In the side menu, click Home, or click the Hearsay logo.

Relate

Conversations

Old Navigation Path: At the top of the screen, click Relate, then in the top menu, click Conversations.

New Navigation Path: In the side menu, under Conversations, click Message & Call. Then, in the top menu, click Conversations.

Scheduled

Old Navigation Path: At the top of the screen, click Relate, then in the top menu, click Scheduled.

New Navigation Path: In the side menu, under Conversations, click Message & Call. Then, in the top menu, click Scheduled.

Reminders

Old Navigation Path: At the top of the screen, click Relate, then in the top menu, click Reminders.

New Navigation Path: In the side menu, under Conversations, click Message & Call. Then, in the top menu, click Reminders.

Account

Old Navigation Path: At the top of the screen, click Relate, then in the top menu, click Account.

New Navigation Path: In the side menu, under Conversations, click Message & Call. Then, in the top menu, click Account Settings.

 

Social

Post Library - Recommended

Old Navigation Path: At the top of the screen, click Social, then in the top menu, click Content. In the drop down, click Posts, then click the Recommended tab.

New Navigation Path: In the side menu, under Social Media, click Post Library. Then, in the top menu, click Recommended.

Post Library - Browse

Old Navigation Path: At the top of the screen, click Social, then in the top menu, click Content. In the drop down, click Posts, then click the Browse tab.

New Navigation Path: In the side menu, under Social Media, click Post Library. Then, in the top menu, click Browse.

Post Library - Pre-Released

Old Navigation Path: At the top of the screen, click Social, then in the top menu, click Content. In the drop down, click Posts, then click the Prereleased tab.

New Navigation Path: In the side menu, under Social Media, click Post Library. Then, in the top menu, click Prereleased.

Post Library - Campaigns

Old Navigation Path: At the top of the screen, click Social, then in the top menu, click Content. In the drop down, click Campaigns.

Post Library - Scheduled

Old Navigation Path: At the top of the screen, click Social, then in the top menu, click Content. In the drop down, click Posts, then click the Scheduled tab.

Post Library - Published

Old Navigation Path: At the top of the screen, click Social, then in the top menu, click Content. In the drop down, click Posts, then click the Published tab.

New Navigation Path: In the side menu, under Social Media, click Post Library. Then, in the top menu, click Published.

Post Library - Pending

Old Navigation Path: At the top of the screen, click Social, then in the top menu, click Content. In the drop down, click Posts, then click the Pending tab.

New Navigation Path: In the side menu, under Social Media, click Post Library. Then, in the top menu, click Pending.

Post Library - Denied

Old Navigation Path: At the top of the screen, click Social, then in the top menu, click Content. In the drop down, click Posts, then click the Denied tab.

New Navigation Path: In the side menu, under Social Media, click Post Library. Then, in the top menu, click Denied.

Campaigns - Available

Old Navigation Path: At the top of the screen, click Social, then in the top menu, click Content. In the drop down, click Campaigns, then click the Available for Subscription tab.

New Navigation Path: In the side menu, under Social Media, click Campaigns. Then, in the top menu, click Available for Subscription.

Campaigns - Subscribed

Old Navigation Path: At the top of the screen, click Social, then in the top menu, click Content. In the drop down, click Campaigns, then click the Subscribed tab.

New Navigation Path: In the side menu, under Social Media, click Campaigns. Then, in the top menu, click Subscribed.

Campaigns - Expired

Old Navigation Path: At the top of the screen, click Social, then in the top menu, click Content. In the drop down, click Campaigns, then click the Expired tab.

New Navigation Path: In the side menu, under Social Media, click Campaigns. Then, in the top menu, click Expired.

Calendar

Old Navigation Path: At the top of the screen, click Social, then in the top menu, click Content. In the drop down, click Calendar.

Select Organization

Old Navigation Path: At the top of the screen, click your profile icon on the left, and in the drop down, select your desired organization.

New Navigation Path: At the top of the screen, click your profile icon, and in the drop down, select your desired organization.

Select Workspace

Old Navigation Path: At the top of the screen, click your profile icon on the left, and in the drop down, select your desired workspace.

New Navigation Path: At the top of the screen, click your profile icon, and in the drop down, select your desired workspace.

Logout

Old Navigation Path: At the top of the screen, click your profile icon on the right, and in the drop down, click Log Out.

New Navigation Path: At the top of the screen, click your profile icon, and in the drop down, click Log Out.


Administrator

To open the administrator view from the user view, click Administrator in the side menu.

To open the user view from the administrator view, at the top of the screen, click your profile icon on the right. In the drop down, select a workspace. (This change resolves a longstanding bug that assigned admins to a random workspace when navigating to a product.)

Create

Old Navigation Path: At the top of the screen, click Administration, and in the top menu, click Create. In the drop down, click Suggested Posts, Content Collections, Campaigns, Suggested Profiles, or Corporate News.

New Navigation Path: In the side menu, under Administrator, click Create. Then, click the Suggested Posts, Content Collections, Campaigns, Suggested Profiles, or Corporate News tab.

Review

Old Navigation Path: At the top of the screen, click Administration, and in the top menu, click Review. In the drop down, click Dashboard, Supervision, Accounts Overview, or Archive

New Navigation Path: In the side menu, under Administrator, click Review. Then, click the Dashboard, Supervision, Accounts Overview, or Archive tab.
