X, formerly Twitter, is being removed from the platform

X, formerly Twitter, is being deprecated from Yext. On July 31st, Yext will automatically disconnect all X accounts and remove them from the platform.

Here’s what’s changing:

  • Users will no longer be able to connect new X accounts, post to X, or manage their X profile from Yext.
  • Yext will no longer crawl X for publishing and profile activities.
  • X profiles will be removed from Workspace Settings and My Profiles pages. Users who previously had a connected X account will see a banner on these pages informing them that X connections have been removed from the platform.

Here’s what’s not changing:

  • Other networks (Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram) are not affected.
  • This change does not affect the actual X accounts. Users with X will still be able to access all its features from the X native application.

Here is a Q&A to help you learn more specifics about what this change means for you.

X accounts and content

Q: Will any X content be deleted from Yext?

A: No posts will be deleted from X, though any current or upcoming posts only set to be published to X will not be published or visible in Yext after July 31st. Profiles will be removed from the Yext platform and no longer visible.

Q: What will happen to the posts currently in the user Post Library?

A: Posts that were only publishable to X will be removed, and users cannot access them any longer in the following places: Post Library -> My Posts Calendar Respond -> My Posts

Q: What will happen to scheduled X posts (including campaign posts)?

A: New post publishing to X will no longer be supported. Posts scheduled after July 31 only for X will be removed, won’t be published, and won’t be visible on the platform. If a post is scheduled to be published after July 31st to other networks in addition to X, only the X publishing will be removed, and the post will be published on the other selected networks.

Q: Will disconnected X accounts continue to send the reconnection email after July 31st?

A: No.

Admin settings and suggested content

Q: What will happen to the posts currently in the admin Suggested Posts Library?

A: When creating new or updating existing suggested content, posts in the library will not display X in Recommended Account Types selector. Posts recommended for X will remain in the system but won’t be publishable to X. Filters will still list X to find posts suggested for publication on X. Older posts can be edited and suggested for publication on other networks.

Q: What will happen to the posts currently on the Plan calendar page for admins?

A: Posts only suggested for X will be removed from the Plan page.

Q: What will happen to the settings for administrators?

A: Settings related to X will be removed from the following sections: Settings -> Organization Settings -> Networks -> Available Account Types Settings -> Organization Settings -> Networks -> Social Profiles Settings -> Organization Settings -> Review & Archive -> Social Activities

Q: After the disconnection date, will admins still be able to see formerly connected X profiles in the platform?

A: Profiles will be ‘cancelled’, meaning they won’t appear in the UI anymore.

Compliance and data

Q: What will happen to the items currently in the Supervision Queue?

A: No new X-related content will be added but existing items will still be in place. Archives will not be affected.

Q: What will happen to existing X data already in the system?

A: No new data will be ingested from or sent to X but the data that is already in the system will remain. Data deletion will only happen in accordance with the agreed data retention policies.

Q: How will admin-facing reporting be affected?

A: X-related data points will remain in the in-app productized reports and dashboards until Jan 31, 2026 (6 months from X de-activation). This will allow the Admins to run historical reports, covering e.g. a full year report for 2025. After Jan 31, 2026 we will deprecate all X-related data points from the In-app reports and dashboards.

There are no planned changes to tiered UMM reporting.

Q: How should we prepare our compliance program for this change?

A: This will have a meaningful impact on compliance. Here are a few things you can do to prepare for the changes:

  • Communicate changes to your users as soon as possible
  • Adjust policies and procedures
  • Update training materials
  • Adjust your recordkeeping strategy around X content
