The Difference Between Approval Requests and Alerts

The Supervision dashboard will display activities taken by your end-users. There are two distinct types of activities; Approval Requests and Alerts.

  • Approval Request: an action the end-user takes within Yext. This could be requesting updates for their social profiles and pages or the end-user is requesting to share a customized content post to their social network. The benefit of approval requests is that the request itself is routed first to compliance for review and only if compliance admins approve of the activity will the request be shared publicly.
  • Alert: an action the end-user took outside of Yext. An example could be visiting a social network directly, such as LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram, and updating their profile information. Another example could be sharing a post directly into their newsfeed.
    • Yext scans and identifies when new content is added to a profile or page. In response, the Supervision tool generates an Alert to highlight and bring attention to the activity. And in these situations, Supervision provides follow-up actions the admin can take to properly guide and assist the end-user toward using Approval Requests in the future.

By leveraging Approval Requests and reviewing Alerts in Supervision, Compliance Admins can assist and protect their end-users across social media.
