Suspension and Hacking Prevention Tips
When creating a Facebook Business Account, follow these guidelines:
-
Do not use your company's name as the name of you account. Instead, use your professional name and credentials, the name of your office, or your company name plus your name. Your company might have specific guidelines for how to name your page. Examples:
Casey Winthrop, Financial Advisor
Casey Winthrop - ABC Financial
ABC Financial - North Kansas City Office
Designate a limited number of admins for your page, preferably one. The admin account should be well-established and belong to a real person.
Fill out your profile completely with a verifiable phone number and address.
Enable 2-factor authentication (2FA).
When managing the Facebook Business Account, follow these guidelines:
If you must have multiple admins, ensure they are not doing a lot of activities simultaneously. If possible, use separate, stable, and secure IP addresses or VPNs for each admin.
Keep your profile information consistent across the platform.
Limit user roles. For example, if a user only needs to respond to messages and post comments, give them Task Access to those parts of the platform.
Revoke access for users when they leave the company.
Revoke access to third party apps you don't use and remove unrecognized devices regularly.
How do I know if I've been suspended?
When your account is suspended, you receive a suspension notification when you try to log in. Facebook will also send you an email explaining the restriction. If you disagree with your suspension, follow the prompts provided by Facebook in the message to appeal.
What do I do if my account was hacked?
If you believe your Facebook Business Account was hacked, do the following:
Change your password immediately and, if you haven't already, enable 2FA.
In your Security Settings, log out of all devices.
Notify Facebook of the incident in your Support portal or via the Hacked Account Guide.
