Publishing Video Content

In Hearsay Social, you can publish and schedule video content from your suggested content library, as well as upload your own original video if enabled for your organization.

Publishing Suggested Video Content

To share a video from your suggested content library:

  1. Navigate to your content library by clicking Post Library in the left navigation bar.
  2. Click Browse at the top of your screen, and from there, you can Filter your library to only see video content by navigating to the Type field and check-marking Video.
  3. Select a video you wish to watch by clicking the post and a pop-up window will appear where you can watch and listen to the video. If you’re unable to hear audio, ensure that the sound icon is set to “On”.
  4. Afterwards, click Accounts and choose which of your connected social networks you wish to publish the video to. Video can be published to Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and Instagram.
  5. If you want to schedule the video for a later date, click Post Time where you have the option to choose a date from your calendar as well as customize the time selection to a specific hour or minute.
  6. When ready, click Publish and Hearsay will begin preparing your video. Once the video has uploaded and finished processing, Hearsay will notify you via email and will provide a link to where the video is located on your social account.

Publishing Original Video Content

To publish your own original video content:

  1. Click Post Library from the left navigation bar.
  2. Next, click New Post in the top-right corner.
  3. In the canvas window that appears, click the Video icon and select a video file from your computer. As a best practice, ensure that your videos are saved in a .mp4 or .mov format and are less than 4 GB in size and less than 1 GB for Instagram.
  4. Once selected, Hearsay will begin uploading and processing your video. Depending on how big your video file is and the speed of your internet connection, this process may take several minutes to complete. Make sure to keep the window open or minimized in the background to allow the video to fully upload and process.
  5. Once your video has finished processing, hover the video thumbnail to view it. You can click the Pencil icon to make any updates. If you’re unable to hear audio, ensure that the sound icon is switched on.
  6. From the editor window, you can choose a video frame as a thumbnail or upload a custom image, and add a title to the video.
  7. Optional: Click Add a Caption if you have a .SRT file associated with the video. This adds subtitles to the bottom of your video, which is especially helpful for those who may watch your video without sound or have a hearing impairment. The currently supported caption languages are English, French (France), French (Canada), German, Hungarian, Italian (Italy), Portuguse (Portugal), Spanish (Mexico), and Spanish (Spain).

  8. Click Save details once done.
  9. Afterward, click Accounts and choose which of your connected social networks you wish to publish the video to. Video can be published to Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and Instagram.
  10. If you want to schedule the video for a later date, click Post Time where you have the option to choose a date from your calendar as well as customize the time selection to a specific hour or minute.
  11. When ready, click Publish and Hearsay will begin uploading your video to the social network. Once the video has been uploaded, Hearsay will include View Post links for each of your networks. If you click one and see that the video isn’t there yet, have no fear, the social network received your video, is currently processing it, and will display it at that link within a few minutes.

Configuring Thumbnails for Videos

After the user has uploaded their video on the Publisher, they can navigate to the detailed view of the video attachment (Publisher Editor component).

There, it’s possible to select and save the video thumbnail in two ways:

  1. Video Frame Thumbnail: Any still frame from the uploaded video
  2. Custom Image Thumbnail: Any uploaded image

Please note that the channels have the following limitations regarding video thumbnail support:

Facebook: both video frame and custom image thumbnails are supported

LinkedIn: only the non-autoplay publishing via Hearsay supports both video frame and custom image thumbnails

Instagram: only video frame option is supported

Twitter: no support as of yet

Both thumbnail selections will show in the Supervision workflows.
