This feature enables you to respond quickly to messages and calls you may have recently missed.
A push notification will appear, notifying you of a text or missed call. When the notification is tapped:

For a missed call, the options “View” and “Call Back” will be displayed. Selecting “Call Back” will open up the dialer with an immediate option to call. Selecting “View” will open “Recents.”
iOS example: -
For a received text message, the notification can be tapped and a reply can be written from the notification just like the native messaging functionality on most mobile devices.
Android example:
