@ Mention a Yext User or Public Social Media Account in a Post

When creating a post for the Suggested Posts library, you can @ mention (tag) other users within your organization or any public LinkedIn company page or Instagram account. Mentioning increases the visibility of the selected social media pages, and drives traffic and engagement when users publish the post. This feature does not support Facebook mentions.

In order to mention a user or page in a Suggested Post as an admin, you must also have a connected account for the social media network you're mentioning. For example, if you're mentioning a LinkedIn user, you must be in a workspace that is connected to a LinkedIn account.

Note: Mentions and Alternative Descriptions cannot be used in the same post. If you use a mention in a post, the Alternative Description feature is disabled, and vice versa.

Mentioning a Yext user at your organization

1. Enter @, followed by the first three letters of a user’s name.

2. Select which of the user’s social media account(s) you want to mention.

The post will only be available to publish on the networks you have selected and that the mentioned user has connected to Yext.

3. Finish creating the post and click Suggest Post.

When an end user publishes the post, anyone who clicks the mentioned user's name is taken to the mentioned user's social media account that corresponds to the network the original post was published on.

For example, if the post is published on LinkedIn and mentions the user Kai Smith, clicking Kai Smith's name in the post links to Kai's LinkedIn profile.

Mentioning a public social media account

1. Enter @@, followed by the name of the page.

2. Select which social media account(s) you want to mention.

Review suggested pages if you can’t find the correct account, or click the external link button to view the account on the network. The post will only be available to publish on the networks you have selected.

For example, if you want to allow users to publish the post to LinkedIn and Instagram, select the LinkedIn and Instagram account of the public page you want to mention.

Note: If publishing to  Instagram, you must enter the exact name of the account in the text field.

3. For each social media network you don't want to mention or publish to, select None

4. When you're done selecting accounts, click Select these

5. Finish creating the post and click Suggest Post.

When an end user publishes the post, anyone who clicks the mentioned account's name is taken to the mentioned account's social media page that corresponds to the network the original post was published on.

For example, if a user publishes the post on LinkedIn and Instagram and it contains a mention for ABC Advisors, clicking ABC Advisors on the LinkedIn post links to the ABC Advisors LinkedIn company page, and clicking ABD Advisors on the Instagram post links to the ABC Advisors Instagram page.
